REQUEST A SPEAKER

Do you need a speaker for your next meeting or in your classroom?

The League offers presentations on a wide variety of topics.

Our most popular program is offered during election years when we explain what's on the ballot from a nonpartisan perspective. Called Decision 2026, it will be available in June for the August elections with a different version for the November 2026 elections. Our speakers never take sides or tell you how to vote.

Other presentations cover current issues and topics that help you understand your government and communiity. All programs are appropriate for high school students.

All programs are FREE and nonpartisan. Most talks are between 30-45 minutes in length. Programs can be presented virtually or in-person. If your organization doesn’t have a Zoom account, we can be the host. We prefer to use your projector, but we can bring ours.

Decision 2026: Your ballot

Decision 2026 breaks down what's on your ballot in Broward County. The nonpartisan presentation explains the impact of constitutional amendments and other measures. Available starting in June 2026

Your Voice; Your Vote

Don't take your right to vote for granted. Your Voice Your Vote tells how people have fought for the right to vote , expanding voting rights over the 250 years of US history. It also covers how to register to vote and the logistics of voting.

Learn about the effort to change how we pick the winner of the US presidential election and how it would work with the Electoral College.

Government 101

You can't affect change or make a smart vote if you don't understand how the government works. Find out who your elected officials are and how government works from your neighborhood to your nation.

This talk covers the benefits of plastics but also the tremendous environmental and health issues they cause. Learn what you can do and the issues of waste reduction versus recycling .

News: Separating Fact from Fiction

Learn how to examine if news stories and photos are true, biased or entirely false.

Tips for individual advocacy without anxiety. Understand the tools you can use, including how to contact elected officials, speak at public meetings and write letters to the editor.

The long fight for women's vote

The League of Women Voters of Broward County gladly provides our speakers and programs free of charge. However, a nominal honorarium to our Education Fund would be greatly appreciated and will help us continue our mission of educating voters and defending democracy. The Education Fund is a 501(c)(3) organization and all donations are tax deductible to the full extent permitted by federal law. A check may be given to our speaker or mailed to LWVBC Ed Fund, Inc.
